DISTILLERIA BOTTEGA LAUNCHS ELIXIR 0, THE ALCOHOL-FREE BITTERS - NOVEMBER 09

News
Distilleria Bottega always promoted the “Drink well” philosophy, suggesting to the consumers to drink alcohol with moderation. In the spring and summer 2008 the Italian company is launching Elixir 0, an innovative non-alcoholic bitters that is wholly pleasing to the palate.
The original recipe, based on aloe, Alpine herbs and other natural ingredients, is the result of research by Distilleria Bottega which has managed to maintain, even without any alcohol, the same flavour and nose of traditional bitters, prized for their digestive properties.
The possibility to round off a meal with a non-alcoholic drink makes Elixir 0 a new product that will meet with the favour of teetotallers, the health conscious, the drinks connoisseurs, those who have to drive home after enjoying their meal, and those who don’t drink for other reasons, including their religion.

More informations
Main components of Elixir 0 are the following: aloe, red chicory from Treviso, rhubarb, chamomile flowers, gentian, mint, liquorice, bitter orange, sweet orange, saffron, chichona root, aniseed.
Elixir 0 is ideal at the end of a meal. It should be drunk cold, at a temperature of 7/8° C. When mixed with crushed ice or diluted with tonic water, it becomes a fresh and thirst-quenching drink (“Zero Gradi”: 1/3 Elixir 0; 2/3 tonic water. Mix in a tall tumbler, add crushed ice and decorate with a sprig of mint).
It is also an excellent ingredient for preparing sorbets and frozen. It can be heated to become a digestive and relaxing tisane to drink after meals or at any time during the day. When mixed with green tea, it is pleasantly thirst-quenching when cold, while it becomes a flavoured tea when hot.
Finally, it can be mixed with beer, both alcoholic and not (“Elibeer”: 1/3 Elixir 0; 2/3 lager beer. Pour cold Elixir 0 into the glass and add the beer. This turns the head of the beer the amber colour of the bitters). The mix drink “Elibeer” has been created by the barman Fabio Marinoni, owner of the pub Shaker (Caorso - Pc – Italy).

PROSECCO DOC: THE FIRST BOTTLE HAS BEEN UNCORKED IN DISTILLERIA BOTTEGA AND IN THE WORLD CAPITALS - OCTOBER 09

Friday 30th October, at Distilleria Bottega (Vicolo Aldo Bottega, 2, Bibano di Godega, TV) and at the same time in Moscow, Toronto, Hong Kong, Hanoi, New Delhi and Nairobi.

News
Just two months after the 2009 grape harvest, which was brought forward for the Prosecco grapes in particular, Distilleria Bottega has streamlined the production times in its cellar. As a preview, the company based in Bibano di Godega (TV) uncorked the first bottle of Prosecco Doc on 30th October.
It’s therefore an historical event, which materialises in the first production of Prosecco Doc using the grapes gathered in the province of Treviso according to the dictates of the new specification.
Moreover in 2009 Prosecco Bottega arrives on the market a few days before the Vino Novello and Beaujolais Nouveau to open a high-quality winemaking year.
A striking 6-litre Mathusalem has been uncorked to fully celebrate the Prosecco’s entry into the pedigree of elite sparkling wines.
Simultaneously Moscow, Toronto, Hong Kong, Hanoi, New Delhi and Nairobi toasted with the first Doc bottles produced with last harvest grapes.
In this way Europe, America, Asia and Africa are joined by a common chears in the name of Prosecco.

Specifics
We should remember that, effective 1st August 2009, all Prosecco is now protected in the European Community and internationally as a protected designation of origin. Specifically, a Prosecco Doc will be produced in the provinces of Treviso, Trieste, Gorizia, Belluno, Padua, Venice, Vicenza, Udine and Pordenone only. The names of Treviso and Trieste exclusively may be listed on the label. Two Docg, Conegliano Valdobbiadene and Asolo or Colli Asolani, have also been created to offer full protection for these two established areas of Prosecco production.

1ST SEPTEMBER 2009: THE FIRST BOTTEGA GRAPE HARVEST OF THE NEWLY CREATED DOC PROSECCO COMES TO AN END - SEPTEMBER 09

The event took place among the vines of Distilleria Bottega with an performance in 18th-century costumes from the Compagnia de Calza

News
The Bottega grape harvest came to an end last night, with celebrations, copious amounts of wine and poetry. This was the first vintage of the new DOC Prosecco. In fact due to the particularly fertile land that is home to its vines that surround its cellar and stills, Distilleria Bottega was one of the very first companies – if not the absolute first – to begin the grape harvest of this new DOC.
The 2009 harvest is historic because it is the first to be carried out according to the new discipline that was introduced to govern this new DOC on 1 August, thereby protecting against falsifications and ensuring its exceptional quality to the consumer. This “baptism” was made especially striking by Compagnia de Calza, whose enthusiastic actors, strictly attired in traditional Venetian 18th-century costumes, gathered the Prosecco grapes and recounted a brief history about the grape harvest, from Greek mythology to the era of the Venetian Republic, through the poets and cantors who took lyrical inspiration in the vernacular, recent Italian and typical Venetian dialect from the harvest. Jacopone da Todi said that “Wine is a risk to chastity”. Cecco Angiolieri asserted that “He did a noble thing who first made wine (which keeps me feeling cheerful all day long!)”; and Goldoni wrote “Go on, good people who laugh and drink".
This grape vintage was also international as wine lovers from Europe, Asia and the Americas took part in the event.
However, 1st September 2009 was a historic date because the Bottega family celebrated the first 20 years of Il Vino dei Poeti, a brand that has distinguished itself in terms of quality in over 100 countries worldwide and has been enjoyed by experts in poetry, art and culture.

Compagnia della Calza
Founded in 1541 by a group of Venetian gentlemen with the motto “Divertire Divertendosi” (Entertaining while having fun), Compagnia de Calza consists of 25 families who plan and hold festivals and shows every year that respect the history, traditions and culture of Venice, availing of the contribution of well-known scholars and artists. They recall the same spirit and enterprise of the companies which organised festivals, shows and entertainment in Venice in the 15th and 16th century as commissioned by the government of the Venetian Republic. They staged momarie e demonstrationi (performances). They even built theatres and staging and called upon notable writers, actors, poets and architects of the theatre. They were called Compagnie de Calza because their members wore different coloured stockings to distinguish one company from another. The Compagnia de Calza “I Antichi” – which had red, gold and purple as its colours – had its resurgence in 1979 on the wishes of 25 Venetian families from a wide range of social classes. It recalls the city’s most genuine popular and cultural traditions and interprets the taste and spirit of Venice as it is now.

More information
Brunello di Montalcino is the only Tuscan wine whose "Sangiovese" was always historically bottled alone. The Brunello is a particularly strong wine for its high grade of alcohol and for its long aging time. The Sangiovese-grapes are usually picked from end-September to mid-October; the juice is fermented on the grape skins for two to three weeks in stainless steel tanks under a controlled temperature. Once the alcoholic fermentation is over, the acid-softening fermentation malolactic will start naturally. This process softens and reduces the acidity and stabilizes the wine naturally, but moreover it gives the wine more depth, complexity and elegance. The wine is aged on the whole for 4 years, of which 2 and a half are in oak. Before release in January, the wine is aged a further 6 months in bottle.

LIMONCINO: THE LEMON LIQUEUR WITH GRAPPA - JULY 09

It is cool, sweet, lightly sour: the lemon liqueur ("Limoncino") evokes pleasant Mediterranean sensations.

Within a decade it has lost its character as a typically local product restricted to a few regions of Southern Italy, and has reached success at national level. After a long period of research and experimentation, Distilleria Bottega has customized the lemon liqueur by introducing the best grappa from Veneto in the infusion.

Our top quality distillate perfectly blends with the peel of juicy lemons from Sicily that are picked and selected in the sunny citrus orchards on the island. This way we have obtained a liqueur that is easy to drink and not too demanding with its 30° alcohol: the perfect choice that satisfies the taste of a wide consumer range, including women and young people.

The natural, almost naturalistic image of this product is closely associated with the lemon, a genuine, precious fruit rich in beneficial virtues. The sober, winning package has been studied to please those who care for genuine things and, at the same time, appreciate the care given to aesthetic details. The lemon liqueur with grappa produced by Distilleria Bottega is more enjoyable as a digestive, in cocktails or in ice cream.

To relieve the stifling heat of next summer, we have created "Soleil", a refreshing long drink dedicated to Sicily, the land of sun by culture and tradition..Here is the recipe: 3/6 tonic water, 2/6 lemon liqueur with grappa, 1/6 white Bacardi. Decorate with a thin slice of lemon and field balm leaves

IL VINO DEI POETI GOLD: THE EXCLUSIVE PROSECCO BY DISTILLERIA BOTTEGA - MARCH 09

Il Vino dei Poeti Gold is a special Prosecco, which features an exceptionally aromatic bouquet. This wine comes from a special selection of grapes picked in a slightly late season on the smooth rolling hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, in Eastern Veneto, about 60 km from Venice.

In this area, which has a special vine growing vocation, the soil guarantees a high concentration of mineral salts. The exposure of the vineyards leads to a strong temperature difference between day and night, thus facilitating the slow maturing of the grapes. The result is an enrichment of the fruity bouquet, which is emphasised by the sparkling of the fresh must, giving the wine an intriguing symphony of tastes of Golden apple, pineapple and mango.

The gilding of the bottle, besides its aesthetic impact, serves to protect the wine against any source of light, keeping the features of the Prosecco unchanged for over 12 months. The packaging comes complete with a special label, having a shape which is reminiscent of the foam coming up from wine which has just been uncorked.

Il Vino dei Poeti Gold is distributed in duty free shops and in the best wine shops
